UNDISTURBED LAND BREATHES FOR US
Offset your carbon emission with SINK Credits and preserve more land.
VISION
We're acting on the principle of human-free places. Where we aren't, nature breathes for us.
SINK acquires land to protect it from direct human interference. SINK properties are designated private parks which ban all logging, drainage, heavy machinery, and tourism. Where we aren't, nature breathes for us. In an anthropocentric age where air quality is diminishing due to our high-emissions lifestyles and economies, we need this vital service more than ever.
SERVICES
In preserving lands SINK sequesters carbon, generating carbon credits to trade so that we can preserve even more land. It's a virtuous cycle.
METHOD
SINK is a science-based pollution mitigation service. It relies on the latest scientific studies that model carbon gas exchange to estimate the carbon sequestration that occurs in tons, per acre, per year, on the lands we preserve. We do not, however, exceed the rates provided by the Government of Canada's carbon sequestration modelling which tends to be more conservative in its estimates than what has been published in recent scientific reports.
OUR STORY
SINK began out of a sense of urgency. Globally, scientists are telling us that our planet is on the brink of catastrophic changes — which may lead to poorer quality of life for future generations — unless greater action is taken to curb our degradation of ecosystems. The Government of Canada is undertaking a two billion trees project, and is allying with conservationists to try to convert land back to its natural state, and we are doing our part to help.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
Preserving land leads to more benefits than just sequestering carbon. It can also increase pure drinking water tables along with giving vulnerable species stable homes to live in. Biodiversity thrives where our human activity is denied. Recent scientific reports show that undisturbed, human-free, land lets nature find its balance: from fungi to trees, undergrowth to soil formation, insects, microbes and animals — our existence depends on them thriving as we require the ecosystem services they provide.
WHY SINK
A cautious approach to carbon sequestration and trading, using the latest science.
The science of carbon sequestration is fluid and must, therefore, be tied to the land being measured. SINK doesn't use grand satellite-generated estimates and vague figures. It relies on the latest peer-reviewed studies that measure carbon exchange on the types of land, and ecosystems, that SINK preserves. We also carefully ensure that we follow the Canadian government's approach to carbon modelling which meets the IPCC world standard.

PRICING
The Canadian Carbon Pricing Standard
In 2019 the Federal Government of Canada established a carbon pricing scheme. SINK, whilst participating in voluntary offset & cap and trade arrangements globally, follows the Canadian pricing standard as the land it preserves is in Canada. This also means that SINK strives to improve upon the best practices identified by the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment.
SINK has 430 tonnes of carbon credits remaining. Each credit offsets one (1) metric tonne of carbon.
In 2023, one (1) metric tonne of carbon is priced at 65.00 CAD + sales taxes. In 2024, this increases to 80.00 CAD + sales taxes.
